Bloodlines

At the stud’s inception select bulls were bought in from foundation studs. The object was to produce a true polled tropical herd of Droughtmasters.

Proven cows in calf to Cherokee Cody (1962 Droughtmaster Sire of the Year) were purchased from the Glenray stud. Later Woondoo Commander, bred by the well-known Wallace family was used over selected Euluma cows. The Euluma herd was further upgraded by the purchase of Mungalla Alistair (son of Charaboon Ivanhoe). Another top sire used with great success is Afro Kaiser (son of Truevale Fabian) bred by the famous King family.

Other notable bulls have been Glen Houghton Omega, Billabong Famechon, Valley Woods, Strathfield Ubetcha, Trafalgar Pharostan and Minlacowie Mattawa.

Today all of the 250 plus stud cows are polled with an emphasis on fertility, temperament and doability.
